Lakewood Wood Flooring is a wood flooring contractor serving Lakewood, CA and the surrounding cities, with more than 20 years of experience refinishing, repairing and installing hardwood floors. Our work is built around the kind of houses this city is made of: tract homes from the early 1950s, many of them still standing on the oak floors they were sold with.
That history shapes how we start every job. The original Lakewood Park homes were advertised with hardwood floors, and more than half of the city’s houses date from that decade, so when an owner calls about new flooring, the first thing we do is look at what is already under the carpet or the old linoleum. Sometimes the best new floor is the one the house already has.
Our Approach

We read a floor before we price it. A cupped board, a squeak or a soft spot usually has a cause below the surface, so we trace sagging and bouncy areas down to the subfloor and joists, and we measure moisture in the wood and in any concrete before material is ordered. The readings are written down, and structural problems that go beyond a flooring job are referred to the right trade rather than covered over.
We also treat older homes with the care their age calls for. Old linoleum, rubber tile and 9x9 tile are handled as a possible asbestos question before anything is scraped or sanded, and we follow lead-safe work practices on houses built before 1978, which covers nearly all of Lakewood. The finishes we use are chosen from products legal to apply in the South Coast air basin under its 275 g/L limit for wood coatings.
When something goes wrong, such as a dishwasher line, a water heater or an old pipe under the house leaking into a floor, we trace the water to its source and document the damage with photos and moisture readings an adjuster can use. Every estimate we write is broken out line by line, the format the California Department of Insurance tells homeowners to ask for, and that same detail serves owners applying for Lakewood’s home improvement loan. Stairs are priced per tread and riser, and we schedule work inside the city’s permitted construction hours with a written cure schedule, so your household knows when each room can be used again.
What We Do
We refinish hardwood floors, repair damaged boards, squeaks and gaps, restore floors after water damage, repair subfloors, install solid and engineered hardwood including wide plank and herringbone layouts, replace carpet with hardwood, and build or refinish hardwood stairs. Where a wall has come out or a room has been added, we weave new boards into the existing floor so the join does not read as a patch. If you have a floor that needs attention, request a free estimate and we will come out, look at it and put our findings in writing.
